Ways MEF Has Contributed to the Millbrook Central School District

$1820 for Eat Well/Play Hard Initiative from Elm Drive BLT (Building Leadership Team). Would support FoodWorks educational play performance, relaxation educational materials and transportation cost for 2nd grade Hannaford Store nutritional tour. $1000 for a High School poetry workship by Jorie Graham, a Pulitzer Prize poet and the Boylston Professor at Harvard.

  • Arts in Education: a mural for the middle school based on the character education guiding principles of RICE: Respect, Impulse control, Compassion, and Equity was supported with MEF matching funds.
  • 2007-2008 School of Belonging character education initiative at the middle school supported with matching funds from MEF.

    • Air conditioning to protect the computer environment from temperature and humidity variations
  • Millbrook Middle School; Technology Enhancements
    • Six SmartBoard packages, a technology that enables a teacher to create lessons that engage students with different learning styles using graphics, sound and streaming video
    • CO2 raceway system for the Technical Education Program. The raceway measures the speed of student-designed cars and displays the students’ calculations digitally.
    • Microscope camera, projector and supporting equipment that allows a teacher to share a microscopic view with the entire class to help students working with microscopes for the first time
  • Millbrook Middle School; Program Enhancement
    • The "School of Belonging" program was initiated at the middle school with funds from MEF to train teachers and implement year-round student workshops year round to promote healthy decision making, conflict resolution and socially responsible behavior.
    • Matching dollars for Junior Varsity and Modified Sports cut from the school budget

  • Millbrook High School; Technology Enhancements

    • Supported attendance at the Northeast Regional Conference on High School Character Education and implemented "Link Crew" program training and materials to promote an academic climate to match the quality building the new Millbrook High School provided by our community.
